In 1981, Schreinemakers started her television career at the public broadcaster WDR in Cologne. She became known for her talk show "Margarethe Schreinemakers" in the 1990s, which was one of the most successful TV shows in Germany at the time. Her show covered a wide range of topics and attracted many high-profile guests, such as Bill Clinton, Angela Merkel, and Kofi Annan.

Schreinemakers has also hosted other TV programs, including "Kölner Treff," "Menschen bei Maischberger," and "Leute Heute."
